Axiosun, group subsidiary

Founded in 2008, Sunpartner’s remit is to design, develop and run innovative solutions in the field of solar energy.

The company launched its first solutions thanks to dual expertise in optics and photovoltaics. Sunpartner currently has fifteen staff and works with numerous laboratories and international industrial businesses. The company plans to recruit about twenty new staff in the first half of 2012.

Sunpartner is directing its development in three main areas:

  • energy independence and decentralised energy
  • the design of energy-producing intelligent surfaces
  • low cost solar energy

To enhance this vision, Sunpartner has established two subsidiaries: WYSIPS and AXIOSUN.

The former has been behind the development of a transparent photovoltaic film and the latter has developed France’s first low concentration solution. Sunpartner’s initial ambition is to participate in constructing a new energy balance based on a portfolio of solid, international patents.

A new energy mosaic is planned for 2050 by the International Energy Agency, which foresees that solar energy will account for 25% of the world’s energy production. Sunpartner wants to play a major role both in bringing about this change and in proposing long-lasting solutions.

During the course of their first three years, the group’s subsidiaries carried out upstream Research & Development in order to generate innovative solutions and to be able to announce the commissioning of two production lines in the PACA region of southern France.

The Sunpartner group raised 2.2 million Euros in 2010 in order to finalise its prototypes with the support of ADEME (French Environment and Energy Management Agency), OSEO, the General Council of the Bouches du Rhône in southern France, the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region and Europe as well as private investors. In 2011 several campaigns to raise public and private fund should see the amount reach three million Euros.

The Sunpartner group predicts a turnover of several million Euros in 2012 thanks to the signing of several worldwide industrial contracts.

Axiosun: a company that focuses on innovation

On its founding in 2009 Axiosun embarked on the development of a solar concentration solution. Between the beginning of 2009 and the summer of 2011, the company carried out research and development work that culminated in a low cost solar concentration solution adapted to sun-rich regions. The first power plant is situated close to Aix-en-Provence in southern France. Axiosun has focused its business on developing solutions that will lead to the production of electrical energy at a competitive price. It intends to construct a range of technologies suitable for different types of application.

Axiosun: a promising future in 2012

Next year Axiosun will launch a production line in the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region of southern France to delivery its first low concentration power plants.

The company wants to be ready for the date with Grid Parity, which will be the meeting point where several types of renewable energies, including solar energy, will become competitive with any of the forms of electrical energy that are in place today.

The American Energy Information Administration expects that this changes will come into effect between 2012 and 2020 (depending on the amount of sun enjoyed by the regions and their existing power grid). This is the reason why Axiosun is keen to offer its first innovative concentration solution from 2012. Axiosun aims to install 100 accumulated megawatts by 2016.
